18 Holes at Golf Pirkkala

Golf Pirkkala is on air!

The official opening ceremony of the Golf Pirkkala golf course took place on July 16th 2005. The first golf balls arrived on the scene, from the sky no less, delivered by local parachuting club members. The whole project started much earlier, in 2000, as a group of golfing aficionados wanted to find a suitable location for an 18-hole championship-level golf course. Right from the beginning, the county of Pirkkala showed interest in the project. Since an area with both favorable landscape and soil was found near the Pirkkala airport, the project was well under way.

During seasons 05 and 06 players enjoyed the 280 meter-long driving range as well as the first 9 fairways. Now the 18-holes course is ready.


Challenging but rewarding

The most famous and experienced golf architect in Finland, Mr. Kosti Kuronen was excited about the landscape and location of the area. He began to sketch the area both on paper and in his mind, and we believe the result is without a doubt one of his finest masterpieces in golf design. The course is beautifully sculpted from the scenery and the fairways have many interesting features and challenges. The course rewards club players – just remember to be patient and plan each stroke.

In Kosti Kuronen's words: “I have enjoyed planning and supervising the Golf Pirkkala project. The course and all its holes will give pleasure to players of all skill levels. The layout is compact; everything is close – the club house, range, and parking areas. Yet the holes are separated from each other by forests, ponds and natural variations in the landscape. As a golfer you can either take risks or play it safe, however you like it!”


How to play the course, whom to contact?

Golf Pirkkala golf course and club are share based. To be a member in the club, you must own a Golf Pirkkala Ltd golf share. Naturally, you can visit the course by playing with a green fee, but if you are an active golfer and wish to have benefits as a member, you need to acquire a share.

There are two kinds of shares.

B-shares

A personal golf share which permits one adult and one junior (under the age of 21) to join the club.

After joining the club, you (and the junior player) can play on the course the whole golfing season by paying the annual maintenance fee.  The maintenance fee for 18 holes in  2008 is 350 €.

The price for B-shares is 7.300 €.

C-shares

This company share includes two (2) totally free annual green fees to the course. You can change players daily or even during the day, as long as there are maximum two golfers on the course simultaneously. No other limitations.

The registered owner of the share, as well as the players wishing to do so, can join the Golf Pirkkala club with the C-share.

The price of a C-share is 24.000 €.

Although we call this a ‘company share’, you can naturally buy it for personal or family use!

Golf Pirkkala Ltd is the company that has rented the area from the county of Pirkkala and manages the course, all the activities and facilities.

Golf Pirkkala Golf Club

Golf Pirkkala Golf Club operates on the Golf Pirkkala golf course. In order to continue building a well functioning and pleasant community, all the share owners of the Golf Pirkkala are encouraged to be members of the club. Golf Pirkkala Golf Club is a member of the Finnish Golf Union.
